February 12, 2004 - Fairmont Hotel Vancouver
On February 12th 2004 we hosted the 11th Annual JCC SPORTS DINNER, at the Fairmont Hotel, and are happy to report that the sold out event was a success. Many of our civic and provincial leaders, as well as many Olympic champions and sports legends graced us with their presence, and we would like to express our gratitude for their assistance and participation.

Dennis Hull did a superb job as Master of Ceremonies. He kept the crowd laughing all night with his humorous insight of the world of sports and Sugar Ray Leonard captivated the audience with his inspirational speech. His generous praise of Vancouver for securing the 2010 Olympic bid made us all feel we were part of the process.

Yet, the one who deserved this praise the most was our guest of honour Jack Poole, who as Chair of the 2010 Olympic Bid was instrumental in its procurement. He was presented at the dinner with the Jack Diamond Sports Personality of the Year Award - Premier Gordon Campbell and Mayor Larry Campbell did the honours.

The place was hopping all night with great food, even better company and exciting items in both the live and the silent auctions. We could not have made the event a success without strong corporate and media support, and donor participation. We want to thank all our patrons and supporters for helping the JCC raise the funds needed to continue to deliver services to families, children and seniors in need.

Last, but not least, we wish to thank our tireless volunteers for their dedication, commitment and generosity. We are especially grateful to Mark James for Chairing the Sports Dinner Committee and leading us to victory. We hope to see you all there again, next year.
