ABOUT JCC FITNESS CLASSES & EVENTS

Free Member classes
Classes are included in your JCC Membership. No registration required, just show up! Descriptions are below. First come, first serve.

Holiday Fitness Classes
During Canadian stat holidays and Jewish observances the JCC does not run the regular fitness schedule. Check the online schedule for the holiday class schedule.

Specialty Fitness
Fitness and wellness programs that require special equipment and or advanced instructor training. There are fees to participate. Please register at the JCC registration desk or online.

Space may be limited due to space or equipment.

Health Talks
Passionate wellness and fitness experts from the community share their healthy living messages. Free for JCC members but please let us know you are coming so we can save you a a seat and print a handout for you. $10 non-members, please pay at reception and present your receipt at the door.

New! Pro-Am Fitness Classes
A chance for brand new group fitness instructors to get practice teaching or for seasoned professionals to try out new materials. It could be yoga, bootcamp, or something totally new and different. Check the JCC whiteboard or online to see if and when classes are running. Free for JCC members but must be adventurous, open-minded and prepared to share feedback with the instructor.

GROUP FITNESS CLASSES

Non-Choreography Classes:

Body Toner Think lean muscles and toning in this full-body fitness class where postural integrity and muscular endurance is emphasized. You’ll leave feeling taller and leaner!

Boot Camp Test your limits with this non-choreographed, full-body functional training that shows you the basics and gives you results!

Cardio Core 30-minute class focusing on exercises that engage the core while providing cardio benefits as well.

Circuit A class that uses weight machines, free weights and other fitness equipment set up in stations to keep things dynamic and exhilarating. Register in the Fitness Centre before each class. Exclusively for members. Max. 18 per class.

Joint Works Designed by The Arthritis Society, this class takes into consideration pain, fatigue and decreased mobility. Assessment and guidance are offered for those not sure where to begin.

Muscle & Flow Features a strategic whole body flow for deep, mindful and functional strength and cardio.

Studio Circuit Group circuit workout focusing on all body parts and cardio. Completed in group style stations.

Teen Circuit (12-16 years) After completing the mandatory Teen Orientation, teens can enjoy a circuit style workout created and led by a JCC Personal Trainer (see “Circuit”). Exclusively for Members.

Whole Body Intervals One minute intervals for maximum cardio, fat burning and super sculpting.

Yoga Experience the mind-body-spirit connection with Hatha-based classes. Gentle, Moderate and mixed classes. Check the schedule for level.

Choreography-Style Classes

Cardio Box Simple boxing choreography combined with cardio intervals and finishing with longer core/ab focus.
Cardio Salsa Exhilarating fusion of Latin music and dance moves.

Shake-Up Focus on a different body part each week, combined with cardio. Finish with a fabulously long stretch.

Gentle Fit Great for older adults and those just beginning a fitness program. Increase your energy level, coordination and stamina, in a gentle atmosphere.

Step Attack A dynamic Step class finishing with a core and ab focus.

Step & Sculpt Maximize your time and burn countless calories in this full body workout that includes a Step and muscle conditioning workout.

Zumba Gold Show aging who’s boss and get groovin’ at your own pace! The Dance party for the “young at heart”.
