BCRPA APPROVED AQUAFIT MODULE

Required Text:
The Complete Aquatic Fitness Guide by Sandra Starrett (2008)

Course includes:
* 20 hours of interactive learning
* Pool time to practice skills
* Preparation for BCRPA instructor competency evaluation

Course Content:
* Theory review & introduction to water principles
* Incorporating fitness components into water based exercise
* Class design for shallow & deep water and special classes

This course was developed specifically as one of the pre-requisites for Activity Coordinators who wish to facilitate safe physical activity programs in Assisted Living facilities, Residential Care facilities and Adult Day Centres. It is not intended for those who wish to register with British Columbia Recreation and Parks Association fitness instructor training program.

If you have done the course previously, or need to re-write the exam, this one day session will be useful in directing your studying. BCRPA APPROVED OSTEOFIT INSTRUCTOR TRAINING
The Osteofit manual, instructor training curriculum, and program of exercises are based on the latest research and have been developed in consultation with osteoporosis clinical specialists from BC Women’s Osteoporosis Program.

The BC Women’s Osteofit Instructor Training Course is presented over a 2 day period. After completing day 1, the instructor will have learned about osteoporosis, various therapies and challenges facing the person with this serious condition, and how to adapt their classes/weight training sessions so that they are safe yet effective. On day 2, the instructor will gain theoretical and practical knowledge to deliver the BC Women’s Osteofit Program.
