PIANO

MARINA SHEVERSKY

Marina Sheversky is a highly qualified, European trained piano teacher with a M.A.in Music and over 30 years of experience. Marina teaches piano in a wide variety of musical styles and genres, from classical to jazz, blues and pop music. Marina's aim is to inspire students for a life-long love and enjoyment of music as well as self - direction. Her philosophy in teaching piano is that everyone and anyone can learn to play it, no matter what age they are, just as long as they have a real desire to learn and are willing to practice on a regular basis – the development of the artistic mastery is emphasized as the final result.
Private lesson fees: $60/1 hour $47/45 min $35/30 min – payable every 4 lessons.

 

ANDRÉA TREMBLAY-LEGENDRE – PRESCHOOL PIANO
MONDAYS & THURSDAYS
Andréa is a graduate of UBC with an Artist Diploma and also holds a M.A from University of Ottawa. In the past several years, Andréa has performed in master classes for Angela Hewitt, Jean Saulnier, Jacques Rouvier, Robert Levin, etc. and in 2013, she won the first place in the piano category at the National Final of the Canadian Music Competition. Since 2009, she is the pianist of the group Guardia Nueva, specialized in Argentine tango.

VIOLIN

BILLIE SMITH
MONDAYS & WEDNESDAYS
Billie has been playing the violin for 18 years, and has grown up playing in many different genres of music including fiddle, bluegrass, and jazz.  Early music is a more recent endeavor of hers, and she has been playing the Baroque violin in various ensembles for two years. She has her ARCT diploma in Violin Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music.  Billie has played in masterclasses with Rachel Barton Pine, Vadim Gluzman, Philipe Quint, Tasmin Little, and Martin Beaver, among others.   She is currently finishing her studies at UBC with Professor David Gillham, and plays in the UBC symphony orchestra.

CELLO

LAINE LONGTON
WEDNESDAYS
Laine Longton has been playing the cello since the age of 5 and holds a B.Mus in Performance from the UVic and a M. Mus from the University of Illinois. She is currently studying as a Doctoral of Musical Arts student at the UBC. She has been teaching students of all ages and abilities since 2006, including as a teaching assistant at the Courtney Youth Music Camp, and as the cello teaching assistant at the University of Illinois. Laine loves teaching and believes in a personalized approach for each individual student.

GUITAR

LEON FELDMAN
TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS
Leon Feldman is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, audio engineer and music instructor born and raised in Vancouver, BC. Leon graduated from the VCC School of Music where he majored in Jazz and Contemporary Guitar Performance. While pursuing a career in music with local groups like 'Glass Kites' and 'Panther & The Supafly', Leon has also been active in teaching private guitar and theory lessons for the past 5 years. ​Recently Leon has expanded into the world of recording arts with beat-making, free-lance audio engineering and production work.

FLUTE

ANDREA MINDEN
WEDNESDAYS & THURSDAYS
Andrea Minden, B. Mus., flutist, found sound instrumentalist and teacher, graduated from the UBC School of Music. Minden was an original member of the Robert Minden Ensemble, a renowned young audience music and theatre company which toured internationally for ten years and has been featured on Sesame Street and in many educational projects. Andréa is a well known Vancouver musician and teacher and welcomes new students.

OBOE / RECORDER

DAVID SKULSKI
WEDNESDAYS
Well known to the musical world in Vancouver, Mr. Skulski was appointed solo English Horn with the Vancouver Symphony at the age of 17. After leaving the VSO he played with the CBC Radio orchestra and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Xalapa (Mexico). On returning to Canada, because of his interest in historical music, he founded Early Music Vancouver. As a teacher, he recently gave a course on the history of musical instruments at Simon Fraser. He also plays and teaches the recorder and other historical instruments.

CLARINET

SHAWN EARLE
THURSDAYS 
Clarinetist Shawn Earle is an active soloist, orchestral and chamber musician, and music educator. He holds an M.Mus degree and has performed throughout North America and Europe with various orchestras and chamber ensembles, as well as delivering solo recitals. Shawn is also passionate about music education and has taught numerous clinics and master classes.

SAXOPHONE

COLIN MACDONALD
MONDAYS & TUESDAYS
Colin MacDonald is a saxophonist, composer and arranger with a B.Mus. in saxophone from UBC. He studied classical saxophone as well as jazz arranging and world rhythms. His works have been premiered by the Turning Point Ensemble, Continuum Contemporary Music, Ad Mare Wind Quintet, and The Microscore Project. He formed his own chamber orchestra, The Colin MacDonald Pocket Orchestra, and was a founding member and co-artistic director of the new music group Ensemble Symposium. He teaches classical saxophone at Douglas College and St. George’s School.

DRUMS

JEFF TOBIN
TUESDAYS, WEDNESDAYS
Jeff has been playing, performing, teaching and recording on the drum set since he was 8. He furthered his drumming studies by taking private home lessons with a percussionist from the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and later started playing with the band ColorWheel and performed in Vancouver. “Playing and teaching the drum set is a passion that brews inside. I couldn’t think of doing anything else and I feel so fortunate to be making a career out of it”.

VOICE

LINDSAY WARNOCK
TUESDAYS
Lindsay is a professional actor, singer, musician and dancer based in Vancouver. She holds a B​.A. of Performing Arts from Capilano University and has been working for companies such as Arts Club, Gateway and Theatre Under the Stars for the past 6 years. She was last seen as The Tin Man in Gateway Theatre’s The Wizard of Oz.​ Lindsay is excited to join our team.
