ROBERT SILVERMAN – Schumann, Vienna and the Cat
In Conversation with DAVID LEMON
FREE.
Robert Schumann – one of the most imaginative figures of the Romantic era – and concert pianist Robert Silverman: in both lives, brief but psychologically complex sojourns in Vienna became decisive crucibles, testing ambition against reality and shaping the emergence of fully formed artistic identities.
Their two stories unfold in counterpoint in Schumann, Vienna, and the Cat, illuminating one another across time. The result is neither conventional biography, memoir, nor purely technical musical analysis, but a meditation in two voices on artistic maturity, self-scrutiny, and the long journey toward integration.
ROBERT SILVERMAN is a professional pianist who has appeared with orchestras worldwide and with every major orchestra in Canada. His discography, including the complete sonatas of Beethoven and Mozart, is one of the most extensive in Canadian pianist history. He is Professor and Director Emeritus of the School of Music at UBC and was appointed to the Order of Canada.
DAVID LEMON is the founder of the Concerts in Care program which brings world-class music to residents of palliative and long-term care facilities.
BOOKS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR SALE AND ROBERT WILL BE SIGNING.
