Group Fitness and Indoor Cycling

Pre-booking is required for all classes.

Booking a class - things to know
  • Pre-book online or by calling 604-257-5111.
  • Members can book 75 hours in advance; Non-members can book 24 hours in advance.
  • Bookings can be cancelled up until 24 hours prior to class to receive a credit or refund (non-members).
  • To cancel: please email booking@jccgv.bc.ca or call 604-257-5111.

Age Requirements for Fitness

Teens 16 and up are welcome to attend the Fitness Centre and Group Fitness classes. For teens aged 13-15 please visit Teen Fitness

JCC Fitness Centre Policies

JCC Fitness Centre Policies

These policies are in addition to the general JCC Code of Conduct.

Access

  • Open to JCC members ages 16+
  • Ages 13–15: permitted with a parent/guardian or after completing a Teen Orientation (see Fitness Staff)
  • Ages 12 and under: permitted only when training with a JCC Personal Trainer
  • Membership card required for entry to the Fitness Centre
  • Non-members must have a guest pass or training session with a JCC Personal Trainer
  • Bringing unauthorized guests may result in suspension of membership 
  • Fitness Centre closes 15 minutes prior to overall JCC closing time

Safety & Etiquette

  • Treat all members, staff, and equipment with care and consideration
  • Maintain good hygiene and wear clean clothing; tops must be worn at all times
  • Scented lotions and fragrances are not permitted
  • Clean, closed-toe athletic shoes required; Crocs, slides, sandals, and any open or loose footwear are not permitted
  • Footwear policy exception when using the stretching platform
  • Use earphones when listening to music or using a device with sound
  • Food is not permitted; water must be in non-breakable, spill-proof containers only
  • Store belongings in Fitness Centre cubbies or change room lockers; keep the floors clear
  • JCC is not responsible for lost or stolen items
  • No phone use inside the Fitness Centre; please take calls outside
  • No photos or videos without prior approval
  • All personal training must be conducted by JCC Fitness Staff; external personal trainers are not permitted

Equipment Use

  • Use equipment only as intended
  • Be mindful of time limits when the Fitness Centre is busy or when others are waiting
  • Allow others to “work in” between sets
  • Use collars on barbells at all times
  • Avoid dropping free weights or slamming weight stacks. Always lower equipment with control
  • Return all equipment to its proper place after use
  • Wipe down equipment after use

JCC Group Fitness Class Policies

JCC Fitness Class Policies

These policies are in addition to the general JCC Code of Conduct.

Access

  • Advance booking is required for all classes.
  • If you are unable to attend, please cancel your booking as early as possible so a spot can be offered to someone on the waitlist.
  • Please arrive 5-10 minutes before class begins.
  • Participants arriving more than 5 minutes after the scheduled start time may not be permitted to join the class.
  • Participants 16 years of age and older may attend classes independently.
  • Participants 13-15 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • The JCC reserves the right to cancel classes or substitute instructors when necessary. Participants will be notified whenever possible.

Safety

  • Wear clean athletic clothing and closed-toe athletic shoes, unless the class is designed to be barefoot (ex. Yoga or Pilates). 
  • Exercise at your own pace and modify movements as needed.
  • Inform the instructor before class of any injuries or other concerns that may affect your participation.
  • Stop exercising immediately if you experience pain, dizziness, or unusual discomfort, and notify the instructor.
  • The JCC reserves the right to refuse participation if it is determined that doing so would compromise the safety of the participant or others.

Etiquette

  • Please be courteous and respectful of your fellow participants, instructors, and staff.
  • Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be saved or reserved in advance.
  • No participant has an assigned or permanent place in the studio.
  • We appreciate everyone’s flexibility if a participant requires a particular location for safety or accessibility.
  • Store personal items in the cubbies provided. Personal items should not be left on the studio floor.
  • Valuables should be stored in the locker rooms. Please bring your own lock.
  • Silence mobile devices before class. Please take phone calls outside of the studio.
  • Food is not permitted in the studio. Water is permitted in a spill proof container.
  • Photography and video recording are not permitted without prior approval to protect participant privacy.
  • Perfumes and strong fragrances are not permitted. 
  • Wipe down equipment after use; return all equipment neatly to its designated storage area.
