Retirement AnnouncementOn March 19th, the JCC will say farewell to Lisa Cohen Quay, our Adult 55+ Program Coordinator, as she begins her well-earned retirement. While we are excited for the adventures ahead of her, this moment is also an opportunity to recognize the remarkable impact she has made on our community.
Lisa has devoted her career to serving the Jewish community and has deep roots in the JCC movement. She began her journey at the JCC in Austin, Texas in 2004 before joining us here in Vancouver in 2017.
During her time here, Lisa helped us embrace a vibrant and inclusive view of “Adults 55+.” She expanded programming that brought people together through learning, connection, and fun. From teaching hundreds of people to play mah jongg and canasta, to strengthening Hebrew classes and organizing countless social gatherings, Lisa created spaces where friendships have flourished and community has thrived.
Lisa’s leadership was especially meaningful during the pandemic, supporting innovative programs, helping people stay connected during a time of isolation. More recently, Lisa has developed programming for newcomers to our community ensuring everyone feels welcome and included.
Lisa’s dedication, creativity, and warmth have left a lasting mark on our JCC and on the many people whose lives she has touched. We thank her deeply for her years of service and wish her a joyful and fulfilling retirement.
