“You unravel me, with a melody
You surround me with a song
Of deliverance, from my enemies
Till all my fears are gone” -lyrics by Bethel Music
In her first solo exhibition at the Zack Gallery, Tkachenko’s paintings act as powerful symbols of purity, vulnerability, loss, and hope, while the landscapes themselves root these ideas in cultural, political, and emotional terrains. Together, they form a visual narrative in Songs of Deliverance that speaks to the universal longing for rescue, belonging, and meaning.
Artist Statement
I have chosen to focus on three of the Psalms, a collection of sacred songs, prayers and poetry, reflecting a wide range of emotions and experiences from joy to lament. These ancient writings resonate deep within me as I walk in the dark night of the soul.
Psalm 23, “As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil” – a psalm of trust and guidance alongside the faith I hope for in the face of uncertainty.
Psalm 63, “I think of you through the watches of the night” – A psalm of longing and desire, expressing a deep yearning for God’s presence.
Psalm 139, “You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me” – It speaks to the idea that God knows us intimately, even before we think or speak.

ARTIST RECEPTION: Thursday, November 13, 6-8pm
In this shared exhibition,Gillian Richards and Pilar Mehlis offer two perspectives on illumination. Richards’ paintings offer the viewer to explore the illuminating light on the still corners of city life. Mehlis, follows the light across continents through instinct and memory. “Into the Light” becomes a metaphor for finding meaning in movement and stillness alike, for seeing not just with the eyes but with experience, reflection, and emotional truth.
