The Light Within the Shell – An Installation

Marty Katzoff
July 4 – August 22

Multidisciplinary artist Marty Katzoff will transform the gallery, creating a space within the space – a room built of painted wooden panels – to explore his own Judaic journey. Throughout the installation, events will take place to allow the community to be part of the installation.

Email gallery@jccgv.bc.ca for details on how to be part of this beautiful and original experience.

“I am inspired by a definition of the spirit of Jewish mysticism by Gershom Scholem where “mysticism represents, to a certain extent, a revival of mythical lore.” The exhibition explores the Mishkan through creative practice influenced by the study of Torah, looking through a kabbalist lens into the Mishkan of the soul.” – Marty Katzoff

Leaves in Space

Megs Gatus
August 24 – September 22

Megs Gatus addresses movement and energy in this series of abstract photographs that capture a dynamic view of nature.

Colourful and vivid, these painting-like images will fill the gallery with a point of view that will echo through the gallery and into the building beyond. Don’t miss them when the sun is out – the light in the gallery combined with these photographs will be something to see!

The Gallery is Looking for Docents

The Docent Program will be a group of trained volunteers who function as part time gallery docents. Those interested in being docents will be trained by the Gallery Director in late summer or early fall, and, once trained, will receive a briefing on all exhibits. Docents will average one four hour shift a week. A docent calendar will be managed by the Gallery Director. Email gallery@jccgv.bc.ca for more information, and to sign up to participate.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner css=”.vc_custom_1519249850411{margin-top: 50px !important;margin-bottom: 50px !important;}”][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]
