Anna Marszalkowska March 29 – May 4 In a stunning set of large format digital prints, Anna Marszalkowska has created a modern take on the symbols of the 12 tribes of Israel. “This body of work is my inner creative conversations and a personal journey in search of my Jewish ancestry…my designs explore the power of symbols within a cultural context and offer the possibility to access different aspects of the human experience.” Image: Anna Marszalkowska “Zebulon”The JCC Fridge
A JCC Community Event May 8 – June 15 This exhibition will be an ongoing invitation for collaboration and interaction. The JCC Fridge will base itself on the cozy centre of every home – the kitchen – and provide that most loved and most ubiquitous of home galleries – the refrigerator. Magnetic paint will be used with life-size decals of paintings of refrigerators in multiple colours and types by different artists, and two large tables with chairs in the gallery will be filled with drawing supplies, craft supplies, and magnets. For five weeks, the community is invited to come into the gallery, make art of their own, and magnetically hang it on the refrigerators on the walls. The Gallery is Looking for Docents
The Docent Program will be a group of trained volunteers who function as part time gallery docents. Those interested in being docents will be trained by the Gallery Director in late summer or early fall, and, once trained, will receive a briefing on all exhibits.
